Just got 01 XLT super cab 4 door 4x4 with 4.0 with automatic, doors & and rockers are shot. What I do have is 1995 XLT 2wd extended cab with a bad 3.0 motor. Cab is in excellent shape.
On the 01 it looks like the hood is higher ? and how about 4x4 switch on the dash would we have to switch the dash ? would like to anyway if it can be done because the color on the 2wd is like an ugly and I mean ugly peach color.
How about wiring for the plugins and stuff ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the reply, and I can see there would be lots of work into this swap, my other option that just came about is 2000 in good shape with bad tranny and transfer case. Should mention motor is 4.0 I have 1993 with all good 4.0 Tranny & transfer case I'm guess this all should bolt right in? The only thing 93 is push button 4 wheel and 2000 is the switch does it matter ? Thanks much once again for the help, will make one of these work.

Hm...I'm a bit confused about what you're trying to do...you say you have a 2001, a 1995, a 2000 and a 1993? Which body do you want to swap onto which truck?

I have 2000 with 4.0 motor is good, tranny and transfer case are bad, I have a good tranny & transfer case in a 1993 ranger with 4.0,
Will the 93 tranny and transfer case go into the 2000 ? There is push button 4x4 on the 93 and switch on the 2000 maybe electronic ? thanks for any help.

Ah, I understand now - well, I'm pretty sure there were some differences with regards to sensors and possibly bolt holes on the 1993 vs 2000 transfer cases. It might bolt up, but connecting it would be a whole 'nother issue. They are both technically electric shift, but I wouldn't try to hook em up without seeing a wiring chart for both the 1993 and 2000 shift electronics first.

As for the transmission - if they are both manual, they should both be the M5OD, so they will interchange. If they are automatic, they are going to be different (A4LD vs 5R55E, I believe). Might bolt up, but, I've never had to swap an automatic, so I can't really help you there.
