I just got some silverstar ultras and i am having trouble instaling them. How do i take out the old bulbs? The battery and the air filter box are in the way. I have a 1999 4.0.

Hmm... well I got the same bulbs but I also have skinny hands... what I did was unclip the top of the air box and that allowed me enough room for the passanger side. and then took off the battery hold down and moved the battery over a little bit till you can get to it. Then removing the lights is just twisting the black things and pulling straight out. Counter clock wise I believe...

I just took out the battery and the airbox when I did mine. Not too much of a hassle, was definitely worth the work though. Silverstars have served me well, so far! :icon_thumby:

At some point I think Ford switched to clips that hold the light housing in the header panel (I'm thinking it may be '98 for Rangers). If you pull these clips off with pliers or something, the headlamp housing should come right out the front (I know they do on '97 F-150s).
