65 custom 500 trans

Any one have one with a three on the the shift. Like mantiond its a 65 custom 500 with a ford 300 i6. The trans needs a rebuild (yes i can do it mypself). I am wondering if anyone has one they may know what it has. I haven't looked at it yet but according to Mr. Google pants it my be 3 speed toploader. I'm asking in hopes of some sort of direction to head. I don't want to buy the wrong parts.

500 like a truck? Or a Fairlane or Galaxy 500?

Kind of odd for that big of a truck to be a three speed on the tree but I don't know much about them.

Best bet is to find a ID tag on it somewhere. My guess would be the toploader. I just looked at a 67 with manual and the 300 on Saturday. It's all torn down and being restored.

I hope it has info on it. Otherwise I'll have to take it out figure out the configuration (ford made many different configs of a 3 speed toploader) put it back in so my dad can drive it while I find the parts. I guess it wouldn't be too bad, they might weight 100 lbs with the fluid. Semi truck air compressors weigh more (don't ask how I know). I think I will post a little project I'm working on at school sometime.

Anyway I really hope its a toploader. That would make my life a hole lot easier.
