Greetings from Germany...

I got the Idea, to get those Comfort-Flashers (Highway Turn-Signals) to my Ranger.

Has anyone done this before ? Which parts will work ?
Do you have a wiring diagramm for this ?

I tried out with a German Module, but even with a Lot of Help, there's a wiring problem...

Has anyone a Better Wiring Diagramm for the flasher, than it is in the Haynes ?

Thanks for any Help.

Greetings from Germany...

Tom

Hey Tom! Nice to see another Germany resident here. I have no idea though what comfort flashers are. Can you explain a little better?

How far are you from Bamberg?

Hey, Hennigsdorf is 1 Mile from Berlin... should be a 400 Miles to Heidelberg ?

Well the Comfort Flasher means, you shortly touch the turn signal, and the Bulb flashes 3 Times...
It's standard on new Volkswagen or Mercedes...
Not neccesary to drive, but I like that goody...

The company Pekatronic produces them, and they are very friendly and helpful.

But I only got the Hayes manual for the Wiring diagram, which is not perfect in eletric matters (The Fuse-Plan there is wrong, too. Has anyone the correct 1993 Fuse-Plan ?)

I hope that explains it ?

Greetings to Heidelberg...

Tom

Bin im Bamberg, nicht Heidelberg ;)

Would need to see how the Pekatronic flasher hooks in. It might not be compatible with the older flasher versions.

Well, ist specially made for OLDER Systems with a RELAY.

But I'm not sure about a few questions.
First thing was (or is) to find the Flasher Relay.
There are different informations in the "NET".

I found a Wiring Diagram here:

So we used the LG/O and O/LB and LB from the Hazz-Switch at the Steering Column (and Ground & Power)

So, the Relay should get a Signal from LG/O and LB giving Signals for 3 seconds back to LG/O. (Thats how I understand it) or same with O/LB an LB.

Greetings Tom

P.S.: Sorry for Heidelberg... :icon_idea:

Not sure. I need to see the wiring diagram for the comfort flasher module. I am not sure if it needs a constant power supply or not. If yes, then you would need to splice in before the turn signal relay.

Just to clarify things a little. does your truck have the amber flashers on the rear (I imagine it would) which is a five wire rear end? That diagram is for a four wire rear end (red flashers, uses same filament for brakes and turns). If you have a diagram or the module you are trying to install, it might halp a little.

OK, regarding the Diagram I found my self at least one Fault.
The LG/O and O/LB are for "Trailer-Lights"... as it seems...

The 1993 Ranger has separate Wires for Flasher and Brake-Light (The Yellow Lights)

The Relay itself needs 5 Wires:

1) Red - Hot on Run (+15 called)
2) Black - Negative Ground
3) White - for Flasher Relay -49a
4) Green - for Flasher Relay +49r
5) Blue - for Flasher Relay +49l

3-5 are the Values for the Flasher Relay.
Does the Ranger work like that ? Wiring Diagram looks, like the Relay has only 2 pins...

Thanks a lot for your help... :icon_bounceblue:

Greetings, Tom

The circuits for the four wire and five wire are completely different. If you look at the multi function switch in the diagram you will see that the feed to the left and right brakelights are joined together when the flashers are off and also seperated from the front flashers.

Ok. here's how I think it should work. 3 the white should go to the feed side of the existing two pin flasher relay (don't know what colour, you'll have to probe to find it). 4 green goes to the right feed wire to the flasher bulbs (you could splice in anywhere). 5 blue goes to the feed wire to the left flasher bulb.

If that does not work I'll see if I can find a diagram for the five wire rear end.

Unfortunally ATU takes prices like they have the Knowlegde as Mr. Henry Ford himself, but need nearby an Hour for an Oilchange, because the got no Idea.

No, I don't think, they're helpfull... maybe on a Volkswagen, but not on a REAL Car (Yes, I'd allways prefer my Ranger even against a Mercedes)...

Okay, back to Topic:
@Martin: Well, that what we did...
The Blue Wire on the White (from my Relay) is wired to the Blue (Ford) Wire between the Flasher Relay and the Hazz-Switch...
Now my Fault: I wired the Green and Blue (Relay !) to the LG/O and O/LB.
If I see this wiring, the colors are for Trailer-Lights.
So I'd better taken LG/W and W/LB as it seems...

If you got a correct Wiring diagram that would be very helpfull.
(May I ask for a correct Fuse-Diagram, too ?
I lost my Ranger manual, and the Hayes-Fuse-Plan is definetly wrong)...

Thanks,

Tom

I went through my diagrams and I don't have one for the five wire, sorry. I do not have a diagram for the fuse box either, it was in the owners manual but I think you will need one for the truck with the five wire rear end. You might find the owners manual somewhere on the net.
