Hey guys I have a 98 ranger 2.5 and I need to replace my upper and lower ball joints. I see a lot of 10pc kits on Amazon. Are these the way to do? What brand is good for ford ball joints/ control arms? I also want to stiffen up my ride a little will the ball hoint kit help or is that more of a torsion/ tension bar thing? Thanks guys!

Ball joints shouldn't stiffen it up, but if your current ones are bad, new ones should take the slop out.

Stiffening up the ride would be front and rear shocks plus new sway bar bushings and links front and rear.

A lot of people say that Moog is the best for ball joints, I'll buy them or Duralast from Autozone.

Sounds good I'm going to go with the moogs, the 98 rangers had a front cool set up correct?

My credo

My '98 with the 3.0 and 4x4 has the torsion bar front suspension.

Wasn't that the 'maybe/maybe not' changeover year? Probably safest to look before ordering anything.

That said, I got all 4 Moog ball joints from Rockauto for the price of 2 from O'Reilly Auto or Advance. They were about 25 a piece from rockauto.

Mine is a 93, though. Ymmv.

1998+ Rangers with 4x4 were all torsion bar front suspension. Most 2wd Rangers were coil front except Edge and Trailhead models. No idea about other specialty packages like the Tremor, Splash and such.
