My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
So I got the drum on last night. I beat on the shoes some and that helped them went to the cable under the driver side and put a channel lock on the piece that connects the cables and pushed towards the rear. Cable moved about .375. Couple taps on shoes and drum slide on. Did other side in about 30 mins. Thanks for the help. Never had an issue before but then again this is first ranger the parking brake worked on. Lol
Once the drum was on were they still tight? (this would be bad) Meaning the shoes really dragging on the drum. I have replace break shoes before and had difficulty sliding lip over them but once on, because of wear on the contract surface, they fit properly and minimal adjustment was needed to to the shoes. This is cause by rust scaling on the inner most edge of the drum making it slightly thicker than the stock size making them tight to get on but that edge is past the break shoe they fit properly.

The cure in this particular instance is using a angle grinder to clean off the scale, and just the scale so installation
and removal of the drums next time will be much easier.
