I just finished swapping a 5.0 from a 2wd 2000 Ford explorer into my 2wd coil spring v6 2000 ranger. I could only transfer the pcm from the donor. So now it's at the dealer to be reprogrammed. But they said they don't know how to do it.. I had someone that was going to call and walk them through the process but idk what happened. Was there anybody else that knows how to reprogram type b pats to take an pcm from a diff vehicle?

How did it work out for you?

I have no clue how these new modern gizmos work but they sure make life interesting.

I think I figured out how to do it myself.
Yes, how did you do it?

If you got the PATS module(above the glove box), that was "married to" the V8 PCM at the Factory, and then swapped key cylinders from V8 donor(assuming you have it's keys) into the Ranger, that should do it.

At a Ford Dealer they need to "remarry" the Ranger PATS module and the Explorer PCM, it is the same method they would use if replacing a PCM on either a Ranger or Explorer with type B PATS.
Shop time can be 1/2hr to 1 hr, it actually should only take 20min, but it may need to be done 2 or 3 times.
To do this they need the PCM data programmer with reset functions and a current subscription to the Ford data base.
After they are "married" they would/should add 3 keys to the PATS/PCM cut for you ignition switch, only takes 5 minutes.
