I have a 98 ranger 3.0l. 4x4 and recently the heater fan quit working and so did the 4wd, and the door dinger is very quiet. It all started a couple of weeks ago when I went out to start it and the battery was dead, the only thing I had done to the truck was replace some backup lights. I have checked all the fuses and relays, the switches are good and so are the motors is there a computer brain that could be bad somewhere and if so what dose it look like, and where would it be.

It's not your computer, that has nothing to do with your problem.

I would start by cleaning both battery terminals and possibly replacing the battery cables as well if they show signs of corrosion. Could be as simple as a weak ground especially if you've had the battery out.

Re-examine the work you have performed.

Check for any pinched wires that got caught when putting things back together and check the associated fuses.

I'll check those. I do have some clamp on repair terminals on the truck that have been there a few years. But the truck starts fine and lights work? I'll get some new cables tomarow.

Well I found that the fan works on high only, and that I put the fan fuse in the blank slot below the one for the fan. I feel like a dummy for that one, hopefully the 4x4 will be that easy
