Ride height measurements please

Just purchased a Ranger and the PO said it had been lifted before he purchased it. However, everything is a little rusty and I am not sure if it has really been lifted. He said the torsion keys had been replaced. It is a 2002 XLT with 31s. I believe the measurement from the ground to the fender flare was right around 36". Just trying to find out how this compares to stock. Thanks!

Just measured my '99 for you. I have 27" tires at the moment. From the ground to the fender is 32".

I'm thinking if I had 31" tires it would be at 36".

Does it have blocks in between the rear axle and the leaf springs? That would be a tell tale sign

Just measured my '99 for you. I have 27" tires at the moment. From the ground to the fender is 32".

I'm thinking if I had 31" tires it would be at 36".

I would only expect a 4" increase in tire diameter to raise the vehicle 2".

for the 98+ SLA trucks: all 4wd, and 2wd with torsion bar front suspension, came from the factory with rear blocks.


for front ride height measurement the angle of the lower control arm is used.

I can't remember the exact specifics right now, but it involves drawing a line thru the centers of the lower control arm bolts. then comparing a certain spot on the control arms to that line.

D'oh! :idiot:

Still, it leaves 2". I'd think with 31" tires and a 4" lift for his to be higher than 36".

It does have rear blocks, I assumed they were factory. The truck sits pretty level right now.
I did some research and found how people were measuring ride height from the center of the control arm bolts or something, but I didn't feel like crawling under the truck.

Thanks planeflyer! Is your truck 4wd? Mine is and I would imagine they sit a little higher from the factory than a 2wd.

I am assuming that it has a 2" leveling kit seeing that it sits level, but the leafs could be sagging too. That's why I was hoping for a measurement.
