Hi Folks,
I have a 1988 2.9L ranger, 5speed, 2WD, 76K mi, that doesn't start.
It cranks over almost starts but its like not getting enough gas.
I can get it started by holding the gas peddle to the floor then let up just a little while cranking. This method works on warm/hot days. On cooler days (less than 60F) I also have to remove the connector to the TPS
Once started it runs fine at any Temp.
Things checked:
CODES just 11 (all OK) and 63 Throttle Position because of the above starting method
Spark with timing light clamped to each wire checked while cranking.
Fuel pressure at rail (39psi key On, 32 wile running.)
I removed each injector and cleaned them (pulsed with 9V while cleaning)
Pulled each plug and re-gapped they all looked clean
ACT Air Charge Temp (voltage=2.45, ohms=20K at 90F)
Timing
Air Bypass
Parts replaced:
EEC (computer) used
ECT new engine coolant Temp (changed twice)
MAP new (absolute pressure module)
TFI Ignition Module new (keep a spare)
EGO tried 3 different used O2 sensors

What have I missed?

Thanks for any help

Hi Folks,
The problem was with the ignition switch on the steering column.
The white plastic was separating from the alum half. The tabs at each end were squeezed to gether in a vice now it starts fine. I think this was a factory quality issue as a opposed to a part that just went bad. Another problem that plagued this ranger was while driving down the road the engine would just stop running, likely when I bumped the key with my knee. Likely other fords with steering col switch have this issue.
I tried to attach pix
