I am installin trailor lights as my tail lights and i wired them directly into the wiring harness that runs back from the front of the truck to the appropriate wires. My turn signals work, my running lights work, but my brake lights only work when i have the headlights/running lights off with just the key on. This is on an 84 4cyl Ranger. Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? any input is appreciated!

seems like the running lights and brake lights are being powered by the same wire then
u wired em on the trucks tail light harness or to a trailer light harness?

on 84 rangers the turn signal must be the same wire as the stop light.

i wired them into the trucks harness with the trailor harness, i used splice taps
to connect the trailor wiring harness to the truck harness. i connected them to the appropriate ones. i did connect the right turn + stop light wire and the left turn + stop light to said, appropriate wires.
