I recently bought a 99 Ranger Ext Cab 2wd with the flareside bed. Does it require a different bolt on hitch? And what model years would fit. I found a 2002 factory hitch on Craigslist and wonder if it will be an issue bolting it on...Any help is greatly appreciated...

It should not be a problem, several years ago I put a bed off of a ranger splash on a gen. 1 and my hitch still worked.

What about it interfering with the narrower bumper or brackets?

A co worker has a 98 Flareside & wants to put on a receiver hitch & my 7 ft fleetside has a receiver.
So I told him I would measure my frame width this weekend & then measure his frame on Monday @ work.

Valley class III & BULLY shows
1982-2007 Ford Ranger (excludes 98-02 Flareside) Class III Receiver Hitch

WHY: if the frames are the same width. Whats the issue?

I ended up getting the receiver of CL and installed. It was from a 2003 at least that's what the piece of tape said on it. All of the holes lined up but I did have to cut a V into the brackets that lock the bolt heads in place. maybe they should have went on the outside of the frame rail instead but I didnt see any wear marks on the hitch where this was the case. This is due to the rear bed bolts protruding down inside the frame rails and made it difficult to insert the brackets. By cutting the brackets I didnt have to fuss with lowering the spare. But it's all on and seems to be fine other than what I think is the tailpipe vibrates against it....Thats kinda annoying but I just turn up the radio!

even on a standard bed or even on my 7ft bed the rear bed bolts need to be removed before installing the receiver hitch then the bed bolts can be put bach in
