I'm sure the back brakes are dragging because of the parking brake cables. I get this back end hopping effect when braking. Seems a common problem with full size 150s too.

But, I'm also getting what feels like out or round or like something up front is off center. This morning I kicked the RF (drivers side) wheel L and R and it moves a bit and clunks. Sometimes it can be felt in the brake pedal but it also does it when rolling or coasting And today I'm noticing it when turning right around a circle (roundabout)

Wheel or spindle bearings?

half shaft u-joints?

stuck caliper pins and warped rotor?

Or any or all of the above? LOL

The front drive shaft seems ok and the back DS was taken down last week, to grease the spline that was dry.

Jury says?

Wow another boys club ignoring this old broad?

Just an update. We changed all the parking brake cables.
Had the rear drums turned, replaced parking brake hardware in the rear brakes.
Changing the front parking brake cable was a royal PITA! omg!
I'm taking in to my trusted shop still hoping it's rotors pins and or calipers.

Yes, e-brake cables can be a pain.

I don't think any one was ignoring post just didn't have an answer.

Generally "egg shape" roll describes a bad tire, it has separated inside.

Is the wear on the front tires even?

If you jacked up a front wheel and spin it does it look "true" no in and out and no out of round?

With wheel off the ground can you move the top or bottom in and out or from side to side?

How many miles on the Lower Ball joints?

I posted the mileage above Ron. New tires.. did the same thing on the old tires.
It's at the shop now so we shall see. Everyone knows that it could be anything from a bad brake hose to pinion, carrier, u-joints, bearings and or wheel and spindle bearings. Just need to find out what is it is! I hope it's not the torque converter even though I know a transmission change out or change over to 5 speed is in the beast's future.

Front rotors and calipers get hot. not smoking, but somethings not right. We did unplug the ABS and she stops on a dime. We may bypass that POS solenoid valve for the rear brakes. Many people have done this with a simple brake line coupling.

Think I've reached the limit of Bro in law's help after that front parking brake cable change out. omg!

Update!

All new parking brake cables installed mostly by me. (my bro in law cheers me on) Sigh.

Shop I trust went to work on the beast and:

Rear brake shoes had 2 primary shoes on the passenger side. (paid the former owner to do this right LOL )

replaced rear brake cylinders, ( broken bleeders,) air in the lines

All new shoes, hardware and springs on the 10" rear brakes
.
Finally after 3 sets of drums they turned the last set and got them right.
(they must of been going out of round from the heat when they were dragging. )

turned front rotors, (driver's side had bad wobble in it.)

Front drivers side wheel bearings were disintegrating, (replaced and repacked, and repacked the other)

pulled the RABS valve and joined the brake line with a union.

new front pads and all the anti-seize compound was used in the the right places.

Power bled all the lines and cylinders. (they have a "I gotta have one of them! machines for bleeding brakes)

Road test... no more rolling egg sensation, no more back end hop and feeling of gyration in the drive line.

:yahoo::yahoo::beer:

We could have done this but sometimes it's worth it to pay. (thank gawd for credit cards)

The beast still has some issues and is a long term restoration project. But at least now the rolling stock is ok and I can drive more then local. I've been around a long time never dreamed I'd see the day that drum brakes could be such a problem.. Thing is almost all this was caused by the POS RABS.

The beast stops on a dime now!
