Would like to know if it is possible to interchange a 1999 A4LD 2 solenoid with a 1985 A4LD single Solenoid transmission by making a jumper wiring harness? Any suggestion or guidance?

I may be wrong, but wasn't the last year for the A4LD 1995?

1994 was the last year for the A4LD. 1995+ trannys are completely electronically controlled (and a 1999 is a 5r55e, not an A4LD). It would take way more wiring than just a simple jumper to make one work. You need a whole computer to make it work, among other things. Look for a 94 or older trans.

I believe they are electronic after 91 on. It is my understanding that the difference between the 85, and the 88 on, to 91 is the addition of a 2nd solenoid. So what I am asking is it possible to wire the 85 electronics (as existing) to that dual solenoid A4LD (not electronic) transmission without building a new car. Thanks RSM

94 was the last year of the A4LD. everything after that was either a 4r44e, 4r55e, or 5r55e

Its not posable to swap it out,
89-95 is a 2 solenoid VB
and 96 to current is obd II and the R series trainies. sorry just wont work.

having 1 solenoid VB is not a bad thing. why would you want to change it?

if you really have your heart set on doing it, swap the motor, trans, wire harnes, ecu, gauges. its the only way.

O.K. Thank you all for the guidance. I was trying to use a more plentyfull transmission. It hard to find a 80's low mileage trans. Thanks Again. RSM
