My 98 ranger 3.0 5 spd jerks/ bucks/ sputters feels like a hard misfire at higher rpms when cold. After it warms up, you can't make it do again. Happens when you push past 2700rpms before shifting. I just did all the plugs and they are spotless. I did get codes for the egr system.
P1451 evaporated control system canister vent solenoid circuit malfunction
P0401 egr flow insufficient
P1400 dpf egr sensor circuit low voltage detected
I have replaced these...
egr valve
EGR pressure sensor
Plugs
Seafoamed the motor
It runs great and idles good just scares me with this issue.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

On the carbon canister, under the truck, unhook the hard plastic line from the solenoid, and try it. See if it does the same thing. Almost seems like the canister vent is not opening properly.

So i looked at the evap canister along with the solenoid there are only 2 lines both soft one smaller going into the canister from the gas tank and the other directly going into the solenoid and a larger soft rubber hose leading into a plastic box thats open on the other end.

can I just remove the solenoid and connect the 2 lines into the last box? I suppose it would be to bypass the solenoid and the evap canister, I figure it would get me a cel on but would it really hurt anything else as far as the motor running without having that solenoid in between the 2 lines?

I took a couple of pictures so you could see.

I pulled the line off the canister going to the solenoid and no change at all. Still jumps and bucks when its cold. Soon as it warms up a it its fine. Any other ideas of where or what could be causing this? Its got a new fuel filter as well.

My ranger is doing the same thing it's so annoying did you ever figure out what it was? My CEL came on yesterday so I took it to autozone they told me it was the cam positioning sensor I changed it and this morning was a low of 19 and it started again
