Hello,
I've had this problem with my 2006 ranger since I got it a year ago, it seems to only happen in the cold weather. I finally took it to a buddy's shop and diagnosed the noise, its a chirp, coming from what I believe is the dust shield going into the transfer case. When its spinning it doesn't make the noise, however it stops and chirps to no end.
My car knowledge isn't great so my questions are..Is it supposed to be spinning? Any advice on fixing it? If not, can it be removed without harm being done in the future?
Thanks a ton for you help, it's been driving me crazy
