I have a Dana 30 that I am going to refresh and use for a SAS. My question is has anyone ever looked into seeing if the locking hubs off a Ranger/B2 will work on this. It is a HP unit from a 99 XJ. Would like to be able to unlock the front end as it is a daily driver, but not willing to spend a grand on an aftermarket kit for a D30.

The unit bearing design of the d30 makes the installation of any kind of locking hub impossible without changing the design of the complete hub assembly. Warn used to make a kit but it was expensive.

Hmm there is a tech article about putting d44 knuckles on a D35 ttb. Maybe you can do the same to a D30?

You can take hubs off an early bronco dana 30 and put them on the xj 30 you have...

If I did that would I be able to use the smaller 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern or would I end up having to use the 5 on 5.5?

You'd have to jump up to the larger pattern...

Will the knuckle assembly from a dana 35 fit on the dana 30?

Not bolt on, serious mods are needed, and not worth it...
