So.. the Drivers door now sporting new up and down hardware :yahoo:
(Now I can drop the window until I fix the ac, pay tolls without scaring the teller into thinking I'm getting out to get even LOL)

my door has a bad electric lock actuator. Pricey little buggers aren't they?

It's a not a top of the list things to do, but some casual looking tells me it's cheaper, or at least not that expensive to get a remote key "kit"

Thoughts?

I've got the worn out actuator deal going on with the expedition. Looking on YouTube there are videos of a simple repair using aluminum foil. Haven't had time to try it yet but I'm going to because I'm a cheap skate. Lol
I don't have the link but it comes right up with a search.

I haven't even tried to get the thing out of there yet which looks nowhere near as easy as they make it seem with the YouTube video.
But I would still not have the remote controls on the keys because either this truck didn't have remote or they were lost in time

Remote keyless entry was not an option on Rangers when your truck was built. I think 1998 may have been the first year.

If you want RKE then that $30 kit is probably a good way to go. Once upon a time I had a setup that allowed me to put the RKE module from a 98 Explorer into the system on my 87. It even worked for a while.

I have a 1994 with keyless entry...............I never lock the door :)

Starting to get REMOTE keyless entry, tell grandson to open the door for me

But yes the $30 RKE looks like a good deal
