Here is my ranger pulling a 16 foot boat from my house in Hubbard Oregon to Lake billy chanook which is well over 200 miles there. All i have modified in my truck is headers, full 40 series exhaust, biggest b2 ranger throttle body,K&N, mazda trans, 373 gears. Pulled 50 mph in 3rd gear up the steepest hill at about 4 grand. passed a cummins from gaining speed down a hill on the way back =] was able to keep at a steady pace in 5th on flat ground, wouldnt recomend using it very much. No overheating problems at all, i have a 185 degree thermostat and new radiator though with stock heads. did fine =]

not bad at all. if you tow and haul like that a lot, going to 4.10 or 4.56 gears might make the tow easier at lower rpm's for your engine. and you might be able to use your 5th gear more as well. just a thought.
