I believe my old EGR valve needs replacing, or cleaning or so I've been told. Have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to emission parts as I'm in a exempt area of Ca.. I don't want to create a major fiasco so here's what probably is a simple question; there's a 3/4" (approximation) tube that enters the back of the valve that needs removing in order to detach valve from intake. There's a large nut that secures it and it's really on there. Before I really go for it, if I decide to, is that nut turned counter-clockwise to be loosened? Thanks

Standard right hand thread. So yes counter-clockwise to loosen. Be careful tho since it threads in upwards so make sure you think counter-clockwise as facing upward.

I pulled mine off this weekend. It was tough to get it to move but once it moved it was pretty easy to finish. With a open end wrench on it, if handle is pointing towards the radiator the handle needs to be moved from driver side to passenger side to loosen.

Mine you either pull towards the radiator or towards the cab. But it still sounds like you're turning it cc. Thanks alot
