Hey y'all I just thought I would ask what a good average mpg is with this engine.

Other than that I just picked up this beautiful 88 Ranger extended cab with 77k on it.

Also I was wondering what to look for and how to tell if I have the 7.5 or 8.8 raingear.

A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
All non 4.0 rangers came with a 7.5 rear.

As far as MPG, should be in upper teens to low 20s

My 87 2.9 is 4x4, and I average 18-18.5 MPG. My commute is 54 miles one way, so that is mostly highway with some rolling hills.

I should note that it seems I always have a strong headwind or crosswind. Must be the area I live in because it consistently blows one direction in the morning and another in the evening.

smaller trucks can do better.
