I have a 95 Ranger with the Normal Hood Prop, I wanted to know if
there is anyway to Swap them out for the 2nd Gen Explorer Hood
Hinge with the Hood Shocks??? Does anyone make a Kit like that???

I would rather not have the Shocks that go 1/2 way up the hood...
Looks like the Ranger Hinge is Welded into the FireWall/Cowl...

Thank You,
Mike Tech

Same question, but regarding 98+ ranger hoods. Has anyone done the explorer struts on a ranger? Info please!!!

I know on my '01, the hinges are bolt-on.

IIRC the short answer is no. The hinge mounts in a completely different way.

I have hood shocks on my ranger i just added. and WOW what a difference instaed of using that darn rod that is never safe. the shocks allow the hood to raise and stay up on its own. I can put a link to where I bought them but I dont know if the site would allow me to put the link up on the board. lmk

I'm not interested anymore...but for future projects, that would be a neat, cheap as hell mod to do.

I've got the redline tuning strut kit on my truck and love it! Freaks the hell out of people who don't expect the hood to lift itself. lol.

how about a pic!

There's been people to make their own struts like the Redline ones using Taurus struts, Explorer balls and s10 blazer/jimmy balls....I started do make my own kit, then said screw it and forked the green over.

I did it before I was double lifted....I only did it because when I was stock, mybuddy had a double lifted ranger with the same fiberglass hood I have......and.....it's tall!! getting the hood open shouldn't be a 4 step process! My girlfriend loves it!! And the striker makes a nice pull down/shut handle.

Very nice looking guys - someone should do a write up on how to install and where to buy with options and maybe a side bar on the pieced together kit . . .

Nice work - got me thinking about it now.

IMO...worthless mod if you dont have the hood I have...that weighs 3 times as much as the steel hoods. lol.

I really wish to find someway to retro fit a 95+ explorer strut setup...I do find the struts to be in the way at times. When it is, I just unclip it and use the hood prop.
