So I was driving the other day and my driver side front caliper for my brakes locked up. today I changed out the calipers and the brake pads and was looking at the front rotors and they both look fine. I didn't see any ridges or burn marks from the brakes locking up. I was wondering if I should change out the rotors just in case since I'm already there or if it would be okay to keep using the same ones.

Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.

Unless the rotor is damaged, (parts missing...metal chunks missing...), or warped badly- I'd have no problem replacing caliper and pads.

You might find the rotor is warped. But if it's minor? I'd still run it.

Opinions vary of course. Traditionally new pads+rotors= Best combination. But on a budget? Fix what broke, and if the rotors are 100% fine? I'd continue along.

I'd continue to run it then. If you hear odd noises or warping? Then by all means change the rotors.

Warping won't visible. You will feel it in the pedal and the wheel when braking.

As in vibration? If so I feel nothing. I just drove an hour ago and it felt fine. I am going to replace them in 2 weeks but I just needed to know if I could get by without replacement as of right now.

why did it lock up?
did the wheel lock up while stopping, or the caliper did not release?

either way, new calipers probably fixed the issue.

when putting new pads on used rotors I use sand paper to break the glaze. circular motion, even coverage.

The wheel didn't lock up. But I think I did fix the problem. Only time will tell
