Hi...i´d like to rebuild my ´89 2.9 Ranger over the winter. I found some engine rebuild kits with large price range and some replacement heads, so which is the brand to choose? Maybe anyone knows some good online shops....

I´d be glad for any inspiration or advice

thanks

These guys had the best prices when I did my 4.0 http://www.northernautoparts.com/ECatalogNew.cfm?RequestType=GetSubCategories&ecat_vehicle=1989 FORD TRUCK RANGER/BRONCO II V6-177 2.9L&ecat_year=1989&ecat_make=56&ecat_model=7&ecat_engine=45&ecat_category=3&ecat_category_name=Engine . They just barely beat out Rockauto, and I think the deciding factor was actually the shipping rates. IIRC NAP wanted more for the parts themselves but the bill was high enough to qualify for free shipping, and that made the difference.

I don't know how all that will work out if you are in Germany.

On the other hand, the 2.9 is a Cologne engine, you might have access to parts that we can only dream about over here.

Actually it´s almost impossible to get parts from Ford Cologne since they closed the factory, and if you can get some parts they are way too expensive...

I´ve ordered a thermostat from them....took them 6 weeks and they charged me 70€, which is something around 90$

And since they never sold the Ranger in Europe it´s even harder to get parts...Ford Scorpio was more popular in Germany, but I thhink they modificated the 2.9 for it

What do you think about the Enginetech Rebuild Kits? The price seems to be okay...
