I think for '97 there were ABS and non-ABS versions.
If you don't have 4WABS, then this may be irrelevant.
If you have 4WABS, then for sure you'll need ABS knuckles (which I do believe these are a little more common than the non-ABS ones).

Well fellas, it took way too damn long, but I've finally tracked down my knuckle. After reading a few article on TRS, I realized I didn't need to limit my search to just 97. Found one off of a 95, about 50 miles from me, but we'll worth the trip. $50 and tax, a short road trip, and I got the knuckle, a decent looking caliper and braket, dust shield, and a spindle. Again guys, I appreciate all the help. I'm sure you'll all be hearing from me again about something.

i posted here once before...



glad you found a knuckle. welding up these knuckles unless your doing a max reinforcement is not a good idea.


i have cracked many and they are weak for big tires and 300 horsepower...but i bent up beams often as well and my duff arms.... i had a bad wander and tore it down to figure it out from frustration and it was split from knuckle to knuckle...next to the stud on the upper and i had to cut the nut off because the stud just spun.

i have seen radically modified versions for desert use though.

all that work to run back to back bearings? no. usually they are fitted with 44 spindles and custom brakes. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Please school me on using D44 outer bits on a D 35. I had my front hub off to fix the wheel studs. From the spindle out it looks just the D44 parts from my Grand Wagoneers. I kept expecting to find the bed spring , the Grands AWDs had. :D

there are several ways to do this, a full d44 knuckle conversion which is strongest, or a abs spindle d44 conversion with the abs style d35 for bolt on brakes, or slider style with modified knuckles/chevy brakes.


or just put a ttb d44 in.

Well, I found my knuckle alot closer than I thought I would. Have everything torn apart and painted. Now it's time tonoutnit all back together. Wish me luck. And thanks for all the comments!
