Anyone dyno their 2.9L Ranger/BII automatic with one of the performance module options? Jet Performance, James Duff, etc? What were the results?

On the subject of chips/modules what are some good ones? Not trying to jack the thread, maybe we can get some numbers too?

as for programmers jet chips and superchips seem to be the favorites as of now. but just an actual chip i would say g force chips. my dad and my brother just got them because they have a full money back guarantee. not sure how they affected the mpg's yet but power definitely increased

I have a 93 ranger 4x4 with 3"lift, 33X12.50X15 tires,Auto trans. I live in Michigan and use the truck for hunting so i'm in 4 wheel a lot.I put a performance chip on the 4.0L about 6 wks ago, it made a significant difference in the power especially when in 4x4 and pushing 33's. Have not checked gas mileage but sure runs smoother so I would think the mileage will better under normal driving conditilons.

Look at SCT programmers, might cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. sctflash.com

Umm sorry bread, sct doesn't make anything for vehicles older than 89. No good for my 86.

I have a Jet chip in my ECU on my '87. I'm kind of mixed on the results of my chip on my basically unmodified engine (exhaust is the only thing non stock).

I got my chip for cheap with a reman ecu and for what I paid, I'm happy with it. It has a tad more power to help with the difference of going to bigger tires than stock. It feels like it's gotten a little bit of it's pep back with the chip installed. I know that the shift points seem different but really I think that might be in my head..it's TV cable operated IIRC. Although, Jet does say that they modify shift points..

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you can find one cheap like I did, go for it...No harm no foul if you found that it does nothing. I wouldn't spend full price on one unless I've done EXTENSIVE work under the hood of my engine. Even then I would be hesitant.

I just ordered my gforce, ill update when I get it with performance. Not numbers not gonna dunk my truck. Lol.
I'm all stock except for a magnaflow catback. Want some JBA headers but need to hide my piggy bank first. Then I'll be able to save some pennies.

I can tell you that gforce chips are garbage anything what modifies a sensor is garbage.

There changing what the computer see for air temp and making it richer for more power
http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=29

" Installation can be performed by anyone using simple hand tools. The GForce module installs into your FORD RANGER's engine bay and is connected via 2 wires that plug into the IAT sensor. Diagrams are included. The unit is then able to fine tune the ECU thus improving your car's performance. Everything needed for installation is included in this kit for a quick and easy installation that shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. There is absolutely nothing else needed to have this installed on your vehicle."

I actually never installed on my ranger, but did on my 06 fusion, and I noticed... Nothing. No power increase, no mileage increase
