Kinda kicking around the idea of building a turbo 2.3 2nd gen and it would have to be an extended cab so I can haul the little guy around. But I have my doubts that a car seat will work with the jumpseats? Currently it's no problem with the bench seat in my Dakota.

Can I install a carseat in the side-facing jump seats in a pickup, or a rear-facing seat in a wagon?

Carseats and boosters should NEVER be installed in side-facing jump seats. Unfortunately, that means that children under 8 years old (about 80 pounds) should not ride in these types of seats. Children should never ride in the cargo area of a pickup.
Nope. No car seats in the back.

Ah yes, the good old days. I remember riding home from the dealer in the back of my grandfathers '82 f150. I was 5. No seat belt, no booster seat, no problem. :icon_thumby:

Yep we had a 74 Corvette Stingray (amoung other things) and somehow that 2 seater took Dad, Mom, and Me places ..... Of course the back seat of a Cadillac was a bed and all .... I remember playing with Legos in the motorhome going down the road, but I guess thats still a normal thing

i used child seat in the supercab of my '88. it was a small infant seat and in addition to passing the seat belt through the framework of it, i also had several black rubber tarp straps holding it in place. worked just fine. id do it again if need be. its certianally better that riding loose in the back of a truck with a cap on.

A 2011 Ranger 4 door I am going to look at tomorrow has FORWARD facing rear jump seats. Does anyone have experience with car seats in these newer Rangers? I was set to look at a Tacoma to trade my F150 in on tomorrow, but may look at this '11 Ranger also, if I can use a car seat in the back. Do they have Latch attachments back there? Anyone? I didn't even realize the new ones had opening doors in the back!?

Edit: Oops. I saw the rearward folding jump seats, and assumed they were forward facing....not so. They fold forward, and the back flip up on the side, so it is a side facing rear seat. Darn, no putting a car seat back there. :annoyed:

i used to have to do it in my 03 ext cab. Ran the belt through the frame of the seat and used the straps that came on the seat to secure it to the hoops under the front seats.

Funny how the only people that can comfrotably ride back there aren't supposed to.

I once rode from Harrisburg to DC in the back seat of my truck, stretched out across the floor.

I also once, when I was about 10, rode from my grandparents to my parents house in the bed of my grandpa's truck with the tailgate down. It was cool though. He had one of those anti-skid rubber mats.

i remember being about three or four, playing in the back of my mom's jeep grand cherokee going down the road, and i mean the BACK, not the back seat, the back back, rust holes in the floor boards and all.

also remember, i was about 9 or 10, going on a canoe trip out west, sleeping on a matress in the bed of my uncles F250, going through the mountains to get to the river, i mean he had a camper top so it was legit right?!?
