My buddy just bought a 1979 f-150, curb weight of 4,000 lbs. Wanted to know if I could give him some help since it'd have to get towed and he doesn't want to pay for that if he doesn't have to. Would I be able to do so? and what's the best course of action in doing so? I have a 4L v6 ranger, stock suspension blah blah blah, 4wd, max towing of 5900 lbs so I should be able to do it, I'm just not sure how. I also have a class 3 hitch on the truck too.

if its the 95, they don't have much for front brakes. drive slowly, and don't even think about stopping while going downhill.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Rent a tow dolly at a U-Haul or other rental store.

As always, drive slow and err on the side of caution.

I talked to uhaul, they say that they will not rent vehicle towing (trailers or dollies) if your truck is under 3500 lbs. My ranger clocks in at around 3200 or so curb weight. I knew it was going to be a difficult tow, given that Its from Staten island to the lehigh valley, a solid 75 miles if I take a major highway. Think it would be best to find another way to tow it?

Uhaul won't let you rent for more than locally. I would very well do that. Or rent a home depot truck or something. But all of them are locally only.
