Just wonder if any one knows if there is actually any difference between the Ranger NA Idle air control and the Tbird IAC. They are two different part numbers but that could just be because Ford wanted to charge more to turbo stuff.

I think they are different.

The N/A wouldn't have to hold against more than 14psi pressure, sea level.
With boost you would be pushing against the valve at a higher pressure, maybe turbo model is designed so valve can hold better, forcing it around may cause issues.

But just guessing, since there is no boost at idle I wouldn't think that would be the issue

The Ranger EEC will be looking for a Ranger IAC and the Ranger IAC will work fine, though I have set the idle 150 rpm higher since there is a little more air flow at idle with a supercharger. I am not sure that would be the case with a turbo. A Thunderbird IAC may work a bit differently and therefore not match what the eec is trying to get it to do.

They interchange fine, I'm using my original ranger one without a problem. The metal ones found on the 2.3s are all built the same, just were the connector plugs in is clocked differently.
