So I recently bought a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer, its a 2wd model with the 5.0L engine... All in all I got an amazing deal on the rig, But I had a pretty narly "clacking" noise coming from underneath, originally I was convinced I had a bad u-joint in my driveline but both are perfect and were obviously replaced recently before I bought the vehicle. So I pulled the D-line completely out and put my hands and on the rear output shaft on my tranny and it has a shit load of slop in it!
My trans is the 4R70W model, is what I'm looking for is the part # for the bearing the rides in the extension housing... its a slip-yoke style trans and the bearing is close to the end of the housing... If anyone could please help me out with this I would be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL!!! I just started a new job only been there for 9days total and now my daily driver, only mode of transportation is having issues and I dont wanna risk driving it and causing even more damage!
Thanx!
