I have went through 3 starters now on my 1990 2.9 Ranger. Everytime the starter mounts snap. It starts fine for probably around 100 times and then its starts making a noise that constantly gets worse with every start and eventually the mounts break. I need to get to work tomorrow so help with this would be great!

New clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing.
Exhaust has plenty of leaks by the way

Oh ok. Is the bell housing damaged? It should mount flush and the transmission bell housing should support it.

Is your ignition timing set correctly? Is the distributor worn? If the timing is too far advanced the engine will kickback and break starters.

I'm going to have to agree with Brutus on this one. I would check your timing on that thing and see what's going on. A good thorough diagnosis is need for your situation. Those mounting holes on the starter itself is only aluminum, so it can only take so much abuse before it breaks.
