I live just down the street from Scott Rod Fab here in Toledo Ohio and decided to pop in the other day to talk to him about some door panels.

The panels in my 88 are ripping and curling up on the bottom so they are a distracting eye sore in my otherwise nice interior. In my on going effort to be different I didnt want to buy some stock replacements so I asked Scott about making me some aluminum panels. He said all he needed was one of my panels to make the pattern off of and he could make me a nice set for $140 a pair in his satin black and with his basic bead roll job.

Check out his site to see if you have never seen his products.

Foxbody Mustangs are his bread n butter so this would be his first request for a Ranger part but said once he makes mine and Im happy with them there is no reason he couldnt make more.

As a note my trucks panels are not the full panel that wrap over the top edge of the door frame. He said he could make those as well but would be a bit more money.

Im goin to drop off a panel next week and he said it will take him about two weeks to get em done and back to me.

If anybody else is interested in a set as well let me know here so I can let Scott know there are more people out there that would buy some if he added them to his product line.

That sounds like a fair price for handmade panels. But I'll try to make my own one day.

I'm interested. My door panels in my 90 look fine, but I wouldn't mind something different.

i just wrap them in .029 or.027...at least i think thats the number mill stock and replace them when they get trashed. i been thinking of doing the headliner in it too with some black pan self tappers or rivets...i only have 2 foot goods..

but 140 is a great deal for those scottrod products. they should be beefy and long lived.. this mill coil i use is NOT BEEFY.

Just a side note....when we talked today he reminded me that the full panels that go all the way up to the dew wipes on the glass would require alot more work and he would need a panel to go off of,which I dont have.

Are you using 2'x50/100' aluminum coil, as in for capping/claddding. I have lots of that, but not sure on number gauge.

I used a set of 92 door panels because they go all the way up to the window ledge and have the wipes built into them. They also have a better air dam by the seat base that helps keep cold air out and warm air in...only difference that I don't like is they have a different locking mechanism (door handle release).

Custom fabricated panels would be nice though...I just can't afford anything like that currently so I went with the least expensive mod I could get...and mine just happened to come with a nice box that needed replacing...:)

Still waiting... I guess there was a family emergency and now they are a few weeks behind.

Sit tight because they are coming.

bummer. they sure as hell look worth the wait though.

and yes on the millstock floored.....i dont see any pictures at my picture storage spot with anything you can see the covered panels....i know there is something in a picture that is visible, because i was asked about them before..i had at one point some diamond mat bolted to the bottoms for map type pockets...then i left them out all summer after that behind th garage and the backing boards curled up and ruined it all:D....so i put the old nasty ones back in till i got bored enough to wrap them again......and again....

Sweet, can't wait to see them. I redid my panels like 12 years ago with 3m adhesive and fabric from the fabric store. Looked good at the time but now the fabric has started to come off again.

LMC makes plastic replacements but there's nothing like having a professional redo them with quality materials. Keep us posted!

Just keep in mind that mine is a 88 with the short door panels.Im not sure if this is a 88 model year only thing cuz my 83 Ranger has full size panels with dew wipes.Im not sure if the doors that have the full size panels can be converted to short panels or not.

At this time Scott said the full size panels would be to hard to make due to the top curve that holds the dew wipe.
