:annoyed: My 98 ranger 3.0 4x4 automatic will no longer run water. When I splash into a puddle the truck will start running poorly or will keep stauling out. After a while of running dry ground it clears up. I have put electronic grease on every electrical connection I can find. The CPU and fuses box is covered with scilicone and the intake is snorkeled into the cab and had been check for leaks. Im not sure what the deal is. Iv had this problem for a while. Any ideas? When it starts running rough I can unplug the MAF sensor and it will clean up for a few min then it runs rough again, But the MAF sensor is clean. Is there something im missing? How hard is it to convert it to a carberated engine?

If you want to run in 2 feet of water, I'd buy a boat. To answer your question, have you thought about waterproofing the O2 sensors?

How so? I had put electronic grease on them. I used to have a mazda b2500 that was in a bad accident that I snorkeled and ran it up to the windshield in water and never had an issue

You may wanna check the tranny and axles for water . ATs can't take water internally. :D

May be the plug wires arching. Check for cracks/rubs on the wire jackets.

Crank sensor probably.

Anyway, your problem starts when you get in the water, so get under the hood with some water.

Start with a garden hose until you narrow down the area that makes it happen. Then dry it out, and spray that area with a squirt bottle until it acts up. Then you can find your issue.
