Hello everyone, my first post so not sure if in correct area but I had my external hard drive crash where I had many files and photos from this forum on. I once had a photo of a wooden diy jack stand that showed I think a ranger w/tires attached on the stand to assist in r&r of trans. I'm getting ready to drop my trans on my '93 Ford Ranger xlt to replace the clutch and throw out bearing and could really use the pic of these wooden stands again in order to make my job easier at home. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Think I'll make a copy of it if someone can show me the pic again. Thanks everyone.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
unless your particularly small, the stock ranger trans is pretty light. on a 4x4 draining the trans and pulling the t case is a worthy effort. the 2wd are fairly easy to deal with. just frame up something simple with 2x4 to take up the slack...

any blocking can work,

The only wooden jack stand I can think of is made from parallel 2x4's, criss crossed every level until at the right height. Finished off by filling in the middle with 2x4's [across the top, NOT down in the middle :) ].

Welcome to TRS~!

I just remembered someone posted a picture recently...not of a jack so much but of a transmission type of dolly or jack brace to help remove the transmission...I really can't remember who it was but it was a fairly recent post and there were 2x4's used to keep the transmission level...

I will try searching on it and post results if I find anything...

EDIT:

That was quick...under the home made tools thread...

Hey guys,

Thanks for the great suggestions. Being a carpenter and having scrap 2 x's I have now come up with something that I can safely use under my tires to take out my trans. thanks to you guys. :yahoo:
