ive personally done 2000 escort ZX2 seats, 1998 mustang seats, 1990 caravan buckets, and ive also done the 60/40 to bucket conversion. seems like the hardest part of the swaps is getting the bolts out of the floor pans, everything else is kind of self explanitory once you flip them upside down and start measuring.

I've kinda decided all I want to do is switch in a newer bench with taller driver passenger seats and a fold down third seat/console. . So I'm thinking a newer ranger for sure. What years did a seat like these come out out of?

Found some decent '01 Explorer seats on the local CL for cheap. The mounts look identical to my 95 Ranger.

The question I have is about the center console. My Ranger had the 60/40 style seats which had a kind of arm rest/tray on the drivers side. I'll now have a wide open spot between the Explorer seats with nowhere to rest my arm when I drive.

What center console do I need to hunt for that will put my elbow in a comfortable resting position when I drive?

Not sure about what all years and models had what you're looking for, but I know 1998 and up extended cabs typically had these kinds of seats.

Not sure if Explorer consoles will swap, but they might. Some Rangers had factory buckets with consoles, but it's pretty rare. I ended up just building a custom center console for my Ranger with buckets. I worked up a design that included a pair of 6" speakers, two oversized cup holders, covered accessory switches, and a side flip lid on the arm rest part. Still working out some final details to the one in my truck, but I kept the template in case I ever build another.

Any chance you'd share your template for others to use?

Not quite sure how best to share it, but I could probably cut out the pieces and either ship it as some assembly required or fab up the whole thing. Working on getting my mobile shop put together, so it wouldn't be too hard to run some stuff through the saws.

So an annoyance with the 01 Explorer bucket seats I installed. The drivers side sits at a very slight angle to the left, where I am not really sitting dead center in the seat.

Anyone else experience this with seat swaps and if so how did you fix?

Lowest "profile" bucket seats??

Dont mind doing some custom work, but I was wondering what seat members here had swapped in that had lowest seat "bottom".

I see some of the Explorer seat swaps and it just looks like it will put my head into the roof...or are they just that plush?

If I can find them, a nice set of Lincoln seats wouldnt hurt my feelings. Used to have a MkVIII, loved those seats...but again, afraid they might be too high/tall for a Ranger even if it is an Ext cab.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated....

I keep reading that mustang seats will fit. Of course there's no mention of what year mustang seats will fit into my 01 ext cab ranger. Can anyone give me a definitive answer?
