Okay so I've had this ranger for a couple of years and a little over a year ago I blew the engine. Need help bringing my baby back to life.
I'm in my beginning steps. Purchasing the engine..

Info: 93 ranger 2.3L 4 cyl. Manual

Question: does anybody know if I should purchase with egr or not??
And also, any alternative engines that would fit??

If the truck didn't originally come with an egr and it is not currently residing in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia, I wouldn't bother with an egr. otherwise, you should be able to swap in your parts to make it match what you had. (eg say your truck is non egr, but the only engine you can find is egr, you should be able to swap over your exhaust manifold from the blown engine to cover that, or vice versa)

Check out the tech library and the 4 banger section on this site, I think there are several engines you can put in your ranger, most of them without too much aggravation to make them work. Don't scrap your old engine until you have the new one in and running in case you need to rob some parts off of it such as intakes, valve covers, oil pans etc..
