I was wondering if anyone here can tell me where I can find some .22 rifle shells.

I just picked up a .22 rifle to take care of the Varmints that try to kill my animals but I cannot find any ammo in my area, so I wanted to know what websites to check out that are reliable and safe to order from.

Give it a few more months and you'll be able to get it anywhere. It's scarce everywhere right now, but my local Academy is starting to keep a little. Was selling out as soon as store opened for the day, now they'll have a couple boxes (50 count) until mid afternoon. Them and Bass Pro Shops get shipments in, but you have to be there when the store opens that day to get any, it just sells out that fast.

Not positive but I'm pretty sure that a local Wally World had some in stock the other night. I stopped in after I got off work, so about 12:30am, to get a new battery charger. When I walked by the ammo isle the "NO .22" signs were gone, and a picture someone posted on the counter suggested that they had received a shipment. After that trip I'll never buy ammo at Wal-mart again, no ammo after 10pm my ass. Yes I'd love to boycott them all together, but I don't have too many other choices.

Since you are in WI, keep checking Fleet Farm. Two weeks ago bought two tubs of Remington (1,400) rounds.

If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
LOL, .22 is still scarce, but I've been seeing it trickle back onto store shelves so it's getting better. Still too expensive though, I won't touch the stuff until it's at least under $0.05/round. Still won't buy much, but it'll give me a small bubble.

Silly me bought my .22 at the wrong time, thankfully a friend gave me 100 rounds for helping him out with a few things.

Friggen things used to be about $8 for 500 or so, a bit over a penny a round...

I remember being astounded by the cost as well. I was just out at a buddy's ranch and wanted to shoot the Ruger 10-22. Went to go pick up some rounds and noticed the lack of stock.

Couldn't believe that 30-06 would be so plentiful and .22 so scarce.

Well I was just in town today and nobody has any and won't tell me when they will be getting any in. One guy told me that they got a shipment in just before he went to lunch and when he got back the whole shipment was gone.

Probably a single person bought most, if not all, of the entire shipment. There are plenty out there with large wallets and a penchant for stockpiling.

I hear there is a unicorn running around with saddlebags full of .22LR...

Hoarders and scalpers are having a field day with the .22LR right now, gotta wait for them to run out of money.

My grandpa has a gold plated one that shoots the .44-40 round. It's like a special commemorative one for his old business.

They are brass colored shells to look like the old brass framed Henry rifle. The centerfire ones actually have a brass frame though (if they are gold colored)

It's pretty cool, you can't touch it without gloves due to the gold plating.

I'm near the OP and every deer round possible is on the shelves by the thousands but not a single 22. That was that the Fleet Farm store that has the best supply usually. Under the empty shelf is a note saying, limited to 100 rds per person. Can't Imagine why the 22 shortage.

Because people either stock up for themselves or to sell for $50-60 a brick at a gun show if they ever find it.

I have a friend that has over 30,000 rounds of 22 cal. I laugh at him. He's buying them for home defense. He doesn't seem to get the whole fire power superiority thing. He could be taken out by a larger caliber weapon and never see the enemy.

So then what?

Home defense is defending your home, not defending your county.

My weapon of choice for that against an intruder is a shotgun... a .22 will outdistance buckshot. For varmits (like for ground hogs) .22 is my choice.
