Circumstances beyond my control have dictated that I replace the roll (cross, drift, whatever) pin in a 35 TTB. I am not sure of the exact sequence, but it looks like someone tried to put a bolt in instead of the pin without tapping or helicoil (juts a large bolt), broke the bolt, tried to take the bolt out, and then gave up and hammered the pin in from the other side. I destroyed the pin using it to beat the bolt out, but I am not entirely confident that a new pin is going to hold the way it should, so I am exploring options. Has anyone replaced the pin with a bolt, and if so, how did you do it and would you do it again?

Ended up taking it to a driveline/diff shop. They rebuilt it and did not have any concerns. FWIW, I am told the intermediate oil slinger, which get trashed if you want to replace the race for the inner pinion bearing, is limited to stock on hand. The driveline shop sent me to Advanced Four Wheel in SLC to see if by chance they had one. There diff tech said it is fine to just use a shim instead - for this slinger, not the other.
