Burn baby burn

Thanks to my magnificent blower motor, it burned my truck to the ground this morning. I was about to cry seeing it in flames. Don't use your heater people with a 93 or so Ranger. It probably could have been saved if the Fire Department could have been a few minutes faster. I suggest a fire extinguisher just in case. It was my baby.

Sorry to hear it...Glad you are OK though.

Did you have any warning at all? Reason I ask is because I can totally see myself going "oh look at that..That wire looks pretty bad..Meh" *Shuts hood*

jhammel85 Well it was raining so i had the defrost on because i couldn't see. Tons of smoke started pouring out the vents so i cut the defrost off but the damage had just started. I hopped out when I seen melted plastic falling under the dash. So yes, a pretty decent warning I should say. And from there it was gone in minutes. But one thing I did notice was the truck still cranks. You can burn a Ranger, crash a Ranger, and break a ranger, but you just can't kill them. Gotta love em.

that sucks. what often causes this is over 15 or so years a bunch of dry material gets sucked into the plenum area (usually via the vents in the cowl) once enough of it builds up it then contacts the red-hot resistors that have been strategically placed in the plenum to get air flow over them. and it ignites enough to burn the abs plastic ducts and then its a full-on truck fire

i pulled 3 or so cubic feet of dry leaves out of my truck's plenum. and despite all that the heater was working fine too

Had a couple burning leafs a long time ago when my dad was driving it but nothing like this. Thanks for that info though. There could have been a gang of leaves in there from all these years.

yeah, if even 1% of the leaves that blow across your truck catch on the slots of the cowl......you'll still have a big pile of them in there over the 18+ since your truck was manufactured

you are trying to post them from your facebook. you need to upload them to a photo hosting site like photobucket or image shack (almost all use photobucket) once they are uploaded you copy the "direct link" for each image and paste it into the line that opens up when you click the little image icon at the top of the post box

you can do that from facebook too, I do it all the time. Just right click the picture and hit "copy image url" then insert that into the text box that appears when you click the insert image button.
