Changed the plugs, oil and antifreeze today and started it up and noticed a strange sound. Thought it was the alternater bearings and finally located it to the PCV (the ball inside is chattering) valve on the valve cover. The PCV has two hose connections on it, one big 3/8"?? line going off sideways to the intake and one small 1/8" connector going straight up from the valve (it does not have a hose connected to it and if you plug it then the engine dies). the vaccume diagram only shows one hose to the intake. can't find a loose hose anywhere on the engine. So my question is, does another hose (1/8") connect to the PCV valve and if so what do I connect it to?

I'd go find an OEM style PCV with only the large connection.

The small nipple on the PCV gets plugged allways just put in a new pcv with a tune up they are cheap and cannot be cleaned properly.

Thanks Guys went out and grabbed a plug off old engine started it up and put the plug on and it died. restarted it with the plug still in place and she started and ran good, and the idle came down from 1000 to 850 and accelerates good. Will stop tomorrow and pick up a new one. with a single 3/8" line. for 1.99 it's not worth not doing it. never checked that after the engine swap as it was running good except for the high idle.

Yea the PCV is the cheapest part and can cost you hundreds in loss on fuel mileage in a short period. Probably the most neglected part of preventive maint.
