Just rebuilt 2.9 bronco engine and reused an used set of rubber valve cover gaskets . the heads are 1986 and the block is 1986 but the rest is 1989. Can I use the turned up style vavle cover (1989) on the older heads and get a good seal. In the technical section it states that the older heads are more curved than the newer (1989) style head.
Also how do you tell if your a tooth out on the distributor--I thought I was right on but it seems like it's a tooth out. It starts up but idles very low and lopes.

I have noticed the valve cover bolts on my oiler come loose. It starts with the ones near the intake. I check them whenever I have the allen wrench in my hand. My solid tappet engine doesn't do that, even though it is noisier and vibrates more than the hydro. Go figure.
