I'm planning on adding a t3/t4 hybrid turbo to my 93 4.0 and I have some general questions about these motors.

Do these have a forged assembly? I've read this online before but I can't seem to find out for sure.

Is the exhaust bolt pattern the same between the ohv and sohc? It would be easier to buy some generic ebay headers for a later motor and modify them than my cast iron manifolds. The pacesetters for the early ones are just too much for me to justify on this project when I'm going to cut them up.

Does the injector color mean anything on these? I have the red ones and the guy I got it from seemed to think they were better. I think they're probably stock.

What is the compression ratio on a 93 4.0? I believe it's around 9:1 but they had some variation in heads and I know my pistons are flat tops.

I think that's it for now off the top of my head. I'll be running a megasquirt with an intercooler in case anyone is curious.

I don't know for sure about the forged assembly, but I would assume not. Forged is more expensive to make than cast and is not needed for naturally aspirated, so there isn't any point to doing for an engine that doesn't have a turbo version.

No, the OHV and SOHC exhaust ports/bolt holes are not arranged the same. At least not between the SOHC and the 90TM heads, which you will have if you have a 93 engine.

On OEM injectors color denotes flow rate. I have a set of red/silver Bosch injectors in my BII and that is just the color they were, they are the same rating as the yellows in my Ranger.

4.0 compression is roughly 9:1, most Ford engines are. There was a change to the combustion chambers on the 95TM heads, but the pistons were dished to keep compression the same. Putting 95+ heads on a 94 down short block raises the compression. 90TM heads on a 95+ short block drops compression.

Might have to swap cam sensors, if yours has one. Possibly intake manifolds as well, but maybe not. Definitely have to swap injector harnesses. Probably best to just do the intake swap since you have to take them both off anyway to get the injector harness.
