Can anyone tell me if the 2.9 and 4.0 share the same bolt pattern for there transmissions. I'm considering putting a 99 automatic behind my 87 2.9l motor. Is it possible? Will I have electronic issues as well?

2.9l and 4.0l(OHV) have the same block so yes the bolt patterns would be the same.

Yes will have issues with the computer when switching from, I assume, current A4LD to 4R55E

And thats 4.0l to 4.0l not 2.9l which adds another layer of issues

The A4LD to 4R/5R swap is possible.

If you have to ask questions about it then you are not going to be able to successfully complete it.
