Hey,I have a 99 ranger 3.0 flex fuel 2wd it started making this loud tapping noise from the valve cover area and i got it home i thought it was going to fly apart. Oil is full. I put some seafoam in it and started it a couple of days later, still making the loud tapping noise and then it just wentthump and quit. Won't even try to start when key turned on. What is it?

from description it sounds like it seized. to confirm try turning crank by hand with a 1/2" drive breaker bar or ratchet and a socket.

Pull the valve covers to check for broken rockers. Also could be a thrown rod or piston skirt broke and was wobbling creating the tap tap tap then boom a hole in the block.
