My local jy was having a sale so I went to yank out some new gears for my 98 ranger D35 SLA. Ideally I would have taken the entire front axle but the only one with 4.10’s was from an explorer with a vacuum disconnect. I yanked the whole axle and put it in the back of the truck so I can hopefully go back tomorrow and get the gears. I could figure out how the intermediate axle shafts come out. It didn’t look like there were c clips like on the rear. If that’s the case, then do I even have to take out the king pin? And if I do have to take out the king pin, it looks like there’s a roll pin holding it in place. Does it matter which way roll pin comes out? Finally, how does the intermediate axle come out? I searched the forums for exploded diagram or rebuild info but I’m not finding anything with the vacuum disconnect. Any help would be appreciated.
