My credo
It is what it is.
Ok, so my Ranger had a 3.0 in it. The motor was a 91-94, and my body is a 86. I pulled the motor and tranny because it went out on me. I found a 2.9 motor and tranny out of a BII. It is a 88. There is no info on the 2.9, except that it ran when it was parked. The other part is the BII is a standard, and my Ranger is an auto. I can get the motor and tranny for a good price. Would it be worth it do the swap, or keep searching for a 3.0 to put back in it. Oh both are 4x4.

Well the '88 and earlier 2.9l's had the heads that cracked, '89 was the year of the new heads.

You will need the computer and engine wiring harness from the '88 BII

Unless you are in a hurry I would find a 3.0l with auto.

Or just do a V8 w/auto explorer swap, same work as the 2.9l swap but would cost a bit more
