I'm not following - the information you posted was completely wrong, regardless of any acronyms.

I guess a question mark should have been the punctuation (87 is obd1, 89 is obd2. map to mas?). My forte is Harley Davidson, before electronic ignition. Dirty

My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Im confused....

But anyways....

I dont think the EGR/ECM/whatever is bad....

Its the damn fuel pump.

I drove it to town yesterday to get a coil plug from the boneyard, damn thing ran like total shit all day. Got it home, changed the coil plug and it wont start....

Im thinking...its two wires how did i screw that up??

Well, after some cussing and throwing things, kicking tires and punching the plenium, i got out a can of either and got it to pop.

Fuel pump was running and is only about 6 mo old...

But....

I checked pressure at the rail, had a whopping 15 or 18lbs.

The pump was always abnormally noisy, and would heat up the plug/wires going to the inertia switch. About the time i started having issues i was also having an instance or two where the pump wouldnt go. Changed the relay, it started working, but something never seemed quite kosher after that.

So now that my F250 is running i can red tag the ranger and start fixing shit right. The pump is still under warrenty, i got new fuel filters and ignition parts, as well as EGR valve, gonna order a new pressure sensor and vaccuum switch to., and im gonna get the exhaust patched correctly.

So hopefully this will take care of it.

Had a similar problem years ago with my 87. There is a black round canister that the fuel has to go through before the filter. Its in the frame. I bypassed it and that stopped problem. Seems like i had problems when i went up hill.Dirty
