the only thing i can offer is to not use brake clean. throttle body cleaner formulated to clean throttle body without damaging components it will come into contact with.

just took a look at a carb/tb/choke cleaning product description on an auto parts web site and it says "safe for O2 sensor and catallytic converter ".

other than that, the only thing i've blasted through my TB is seafoam. so procedure wise, um, i got nothing for you there.

Another person confused by the propaganda.

Use brake clean, it's cheap. It's a 2.9, not an LS7 with a specially coated TB. How many threads are there on here about bad O2 sensors from any chemical...? None.

Pull the tube, open it, and spray away. Give it a few minutes to dry, then hold it wide open as you start it as if it was flooded.

Then get you a can of seafoam, and follow the directions on the can about putting it through a vacuum line/ brake booster hose. That'll clean the intake runners, valves, and pistons.

FWIW, the only special spray I'm a firm believer in is MAF sensor cleaner, because it truly is a delicate sensor, and that stuff leaves no residue.

I like to pull the tb off and hose it out good.

Be prepared for high idle issues afterward though. The first time I cleaned my 2.9 tb it idled at 2000 rpm until I had to reset the idle manually.
