Change PCV Valve - '01 3.0 - How To?

I'm changing the PCV valve on my Ranger but am not quite sure how to get to it. I can see it but there so much plumbing around and above, I can't access it.

Has anyone done a How To write-up? If so, can someone point me in the right direction? If not, can someone at least outline what I need to unbolt/remove to get access?

Mines a 2000 3.0 Ranger. I ended up googling "2000 Ford ranger 3.0 PCV"

A ton of pictures came up, along with youtube vids, and many links to get it done.

Grab a beverage and a donut before doing the search though. You soon get lost in the sea of searched data!

I appreciate the response but that search term doesn't get me anything more than what I've already found. Most of the links involve locating the PCV, not what's necessary to replace it. Additionally, some of the images show something different than what I see under the hood. I'm thinking I need to remove/disconnect the harness and hoses that are preventing access but there doesn't seem to be anything that outlines the process. I can see the PCV but I just can seem to get to it.

It did involve some removal of intake, but really it was a piece of cake-

I figured it out.

You need to disconnect that huge wiring harness connector that sits atop the intake (way back by the fire wall).
Then remove the opposite connector from the support bracket.
Then remove the support bracket from the intake.
Now, you have access to the vacuum line that sits just above the PCV valve. Pop that vacuum line off of the port on the back of the intake.
Remove/replace the PCV valve (the plastic elbow did not want to come out of the hose so I just replace the valve itself).
Reassemble in reverse order.

Pretty simple actually and maybe took me 15 minutes, start to finish. If you're anal (like me), you cleaned the pins, on the harness connector, with cleaner and re-applied some dielectric grease. Good to go! I plan to submit a How To with pictures.

While you may not find an exact procedure for your year PCV, it will provide the location, which is 90% of the battle. They made these difficult to replace for sure.

Yeah but I could see it just by standing near the left front wheel.

My issue was getting to it. I submitted a How To with pictures.

Heck, just be happy you don't have the heated PCV and have to cough up $40 like I did!

If that's what the valve itself looked like, did you consider replacing the hose?

I did not because the hose usually doesn't 'suffer' that much. It was still pliable and relatively clear on the inside. You do raise a good point though.
