To any of you who painted your radio bezel on your 95+ style dashes, did you remove the coating on the plastic before you painted or did you just scuff and shoot paint? Would it be a good idea to use an adhesion promoter on all of the plastic before painting as well?

The first one I did, I scuffed it up, painted it and cleared it with about 5 coats and it came out great. If you do it that way I used windex to clean it after sanding, an ammonia based cleaner is good to use so it cleans it well in preperation for paint. You can also soak in in brake fluid to get the rubber stuff off first then paint it. Dont let it sit for days on end, it'll fall apart lol

Kind of an update, I started sanding it with 180 grit, the rubber coating is coming off alright. I'll have to sand it again to get it to 320 grit before I lay down primer and then paint.

Fix it till its broke!
Lmc sells some paint that says it bonds to the panels vs laying on the surface. think no sanding required but is permanent and retains textured finishes.
